Fortnite vehicles: Season 7 vehicle locations, X-4 Stormwing locations, best vehicles, stats and strategies

Two players riding the Fortnite Quad.

Fortnite doesn’t have many vehicles, just a couple of motorised buggies, shopping trolleys, and a deadly fighter plane. Recent updates have changed the rate at which certain vehicles spawn, so in this guide, we’ll go over all of the stats for each of the currently available vehicles, as well as impart any tips for using each one.

With the game being the global sensation that it is, there’s a lot to learn about not only getting that all-important “Victory Royale”, but also the changes to the map as the seasons progress, and the challenges you can seek to complete. Head over to our Fortnite guide hub for every single thing you need to get started.

X-4 Stormwing

X-4 Stormwing

Stats

Fits 5 people (one pilot and four on the wings)
HP: 800
Destructible?: Yes

Locations

In each game, there are five X-4 Stormwings available in Frosty Flights, but they can also be found at the seven A.I.M. Expedition Outposts. You’ll usually see two or three per outpost. On top of this, there’s one hidden under the Mansion inside the hidden hangar which appear around the island, two or three per outpost. Additionally, one X-4 Stormwing can be found in the hidden hangar under the Mansion, and a second at the airstrip close to The Block.

Overview

The new plane that has been added to Fortnite is by far the fasted mode of transport, and possibly the noisiest too. It features a boost and an air brake, giving it a decent amount of flexibility. Additionally, the pilot is not unarmed as it has two guns close to the propellers, so if you hear it flying close, run for cover. It can overheat however, giving those that aren’t killed with a hail of bullets the opportunity to blow you out of the sky, if they can reach you.

Some things to note when piloting the X-4 Stormwing. Firstly, while you can use the WSAD keys to aim and turn, it’s much better to use the mouse for aiming as it can allow for more precise aiming when dealing with opponents. For turning, you can bank left and right with the Z and C keys respectively, while tapping either key twice will do a roll. You can also invert your plane by holding the X key.

Exiting the vehicle puts you in a skydiving state, so bear that in mind when jumping out. They’re by far the best vehicle in the game, capable of boosting through buildings to smash them (though this damages the plane heavily), as well as take to the skies out of reach from shots below. A recent nerf has made this battering ram strategy far less viable, especially since it now just deals damage rather than specifically health damage.

Even a second nerf hasn’t really dented just how advantageous being in the sky can be. It’s something you should always consider, particularly if you are getting the hang of turning in mid-air. Planes also deal damage to both passengers and pilots if they explode, though this damage now no longer avoids shields.

Fortnite's ATK

Quadcrasher

Stats

Fits 4 people
HP: 400
Destructible?: Yes

Locations

Generally speaking they’re dotted around the map, but there are some that can be hidden in garages, particularly in the smaller red bases in the south-west of the map that house a single Quadcrasher. The base in Frosty Flights also has a good chance of spawning a couple in the hidden base bit.

Overview

The Quadcrasher can build up boost by merely sitting in the driver’s seat, which upon being used can smash through almost everything. Players will be sent into the sky, taking significant fall damage, but the Quadcrasher is likely to mostly be used to cover huge gaps in the terrain or climb up mountains. They’re found throughout the map and can spawn at any time.

While the protection it offers is minimal, the speed that it can get up to is significant. Therefore out of all the ground based vehicles it is probably the one of choice. Running over players now deals damage to shields rather than base health. That said though, it has been dwarfed by the airborne superiority of the X-4 Stormwing.

You can also chain boosts and fly continuously through the air with Quadcrashers if you aim up and boost in just the right way – look at the video above to see what I mean. It involves driving off a ramp-like surface and then boosting climb upwards into the sky. You’ll have just enough air time to boost again, keeping you airborne.

All Terrain Kart

Stats

Fits 4 people
HP: 400
Destructible?: Yes

Overview

The All Terrain Kart is an homage to Super Mario Kart in that it’s a buggy that can obtain speed boosts while drifting. Simply hang onto the drift until the sparks emit from the wheels – with Blue, Yellow, then Red giving an increasing boost of speed per rank. It’s fast enough to run from the storm, or if you have your squad riding along with you, it can be a decent attacking option. You can switch seats to an empty one by pressing crouch, which it will do so going clockwise.

One thing that you should always be aware of is that the ATK is weak vehicle compared to the Quadcrasher, which is better than it in every way aside from the number of people it can fit. Therefore if you’re trying to go about playing Fortnite in a vehicle heavy way, the ATK is not the vehicle of choice. It’s also the most boring of vehicles and nobody wants that. This vehicle is also much rarer than other vehicles in regular games, but even if you do it’s not the greatest option. You’re probably better off not getting behind the wheel.

Shopping Cart

Stats

Fits 2 people
HP: 400
Destructible?: Yes

Overview

Shopping Carts just aren’t worth your time these days. They were fun and novel when they first came out, but the rest of the vehicles have since out-performed the humble trolley. Their movement is reliant on a player pushing the cart, which can be tricky when dealing with hilly terrain (particularly uphill). The cart also offers no protection at all and is very weak to enemy fire. You can use it to ram into buildings, but the other vehicles still do better at this. It’s even subject to lethal fall damage should you still be in one when it hits the ground from a very high jump.

The only thing the Shopping Cart has going for it is that it’s virtually silent compared to the motorised vehicles. You will likely not hear one coming before it rams into the side of your building, and there’s no guarantee that the player that was operating it will even be there when it does. All that said, you’ll barely run into any of these in the map and they’re not worth gunning for when you do eventually find one.
